Ali Koçman, the son of Sıtkı KOÇMAN who supported our university and vocational school , was born in Istanbul in 1943. He graduated from Işıklar High School and the Academy of Economic and Commercial Sciences. After post-graduate education in US and UK, he had served as an administrator in family businesses operating in the fields of Shipping, Automotive Industry, Food Industry, Mining, and Import-Export.
He had been working as a chairman for seven years in an international maritime enterprise whose center located in Hamburg. He served as chairman of the board between 1980-1985 the Turkish Industrialists' and Businessmen Association (TUSIAD), and represented Turkey as speaker and delegate in international issues.
Ali Koçman who is English-speaking and interested in economic and political development of Turkey in the last century as a hobby, passed away due to heart attack at a young age on 03.28.1999. To cherish name of the gentleman, school name was changed as "Ula Ali Koçman Vocational School" after session of Council of Higher Education held on 02.04.2000 that examined suitability.
